Frequently Asked Questions:

Do you tattoo minors?

In Idaho, a minor that is between the ages of 14 and 18 years old may receive a tattoo with the proper permission and documentation from either a custodial parent or legal guardian. However, the minimum age for a tattoo on a minor done by Thrive Ink Studio is 16 years old

Requirements to be tattooed as a minor (by Thrive Ink Studio):

  • If the full legal name of the parent or guardian does not match the full legal name on the documentation provided, then additional legal documentation must be brought in to show the process of the name change
  • Age 16 minimum
  • Permission from a custodial parent or legal guardian and the proper documentation to prove your relationship (original birth certificate, legal custody documents, etc.)
  • Your parent or guardian must agree to sign our Consent and Release form on your behalf
  • Your parent or guardian must be present at your appointment with you for the entire duration
  • You AND your parent or legal guardian each must bring your required documentation and a valid photo ID for each of you

Do you tattoo men?

No, it is the policy of our Studio to only tattoo females (gender assigned at birth). This policy is in place for personal and safety reasons.

On rare occasions, exceptions can be made for husband and wife tattoos when booked and attended together, however tattoo placement on men is limited. If you would like to request an exception, you may submit a tattoo inquiry and explain your reason for the exception request. However, no guarantee is made that we will make an exception to our policy.

If you are a male but are not looking to get tattooed together along with your female partner, we want you to know that we genuinely appreciate your interest and we are sorry that we can not be of service to you. We wish you all the best looking for an artist for your next tattoo. Thank you so much for your understanding.

How soon can I get an appointment / do you take walk-ins?

We do NOT offer walk-in appointments, we operate by appointment only.

Depending on the size of tattoo you are wanting to get and your availability, we may be able to get your appointment scheduled within 1-3 weeks. For larger projects you can expect to be scheduled within 1-2 months.

Do you fix or cover up existing tattoos?

Yes, sometimes we will work with you to modify or cover up existing tattoos you are unhappy with, but not always. Please complete our Tattoo Inquiry form to find out if you are a candidate.

Are there any tattoo placements that you will not do?

Yes, there are some tattoo placements that we will not tattoo. We do not tattoo sensitive or private areas, sternums, faces, hands or bottoms of feet.

Can multiple people get tattooed together?

Yes, absolutely! We love doing group tattoos. We often schedule group tattoos for mother and daughters, best friends, and sisters. Our studio best supports groups of 3 or less, but if you have a larger group feel free to contact us- as alternate arrangements can possibly be made.

Do different parts of the body hurt more or less for tattoos?

Yes, different parts of the body definitely have different levels of pain. The pain is not related to how much 'muscle' or 'meat' is in an area, as we ofter hear people say - the pain is actually dependent upon how close your nerves are to the skin, as nerves are what give you the sensation of pain.

See the images below for a general Tattoo Pain chart:

If you are considering getting your first tattoo we definitely recommend aiming for a green, light tan or darker tan section and we strongly recommend AVOIDING the orange and red areas.

Do you offer piercings?

No, we do not offer piercings.

How much do you charge / what are your rates?

Thrive Ink Studio charges by the piece, not per hour, which helps both the client and the artist plan ahead.
